LET'S RUN TOGETHER, APART!!

If I could sum up the last four weeks it would be this:

I’ve reached the point where my daytime pajamas and nighttime pajamas are now the same pajamas

I’ve been good about getting out and running (slowly) or power walking (which actually turns out to be faster than my run and that makes me sad) but it’s been kind of directionless. I decided that I needed a short term goal. I then decided that an attainable short term goal would be the ability to run an entire 5K. I used to be able to do it fairly easily. That’s no longer the case but I think I could get back there. The end of May seemed to be a good target date.

Eye of the tiger. Body of the panda.

I also decided that I wanted to drag my favorite running friends into this with me, even if it’s just virtually. I thought we could do a 5K the final weekend of May, maybe Saturday the 30th. I’m calling it the Quarantine 5K Race For Truth. I haven’t worked out all of the particulars of the route yet and whether we can find a way to distance ourselves and do it together or we could even do it virtually and just report back with our results and lift a beer via Zoom. I miss running with the group and I’ll take whatever I can get.

I could run in this mask if that makes people feel more comfortable around me. Somehow i don’t think that will be the case.

So that’s my idea. I need a goal and thought that it might be useful for you guys too. I’m setting this up like a real 5K. There will be medals, shirts and swag bags for those who participate. I will also be tweaking the Running In The Buff website for the event. Seaerra is even doing a design. I will be posting inspirational quotes and running tips as well. Perhaps even some tutorial videos showing my proper form and gear reviews. I’m working on a whole series of videos on the misconceptions that denim is bad sporting attire.

What say you Team Awesome??? Who’s ready to bust out a fairly short race and help me get back to the mediocre shape I was in 5 years ago?

Also, I’ve only got 12 medals.
